VE Day, 64 Years Hence

Sixty Four years ago today, the War in Europe ended on May 8, 1945. My father and his crew had already flown their last mission over Germany and they prepared to fly their planes back to the States on their way to the Pacific. They refused to fly the first four planes they were assigned. None were sufficiently flight worthy to make the trip back, via Greenland. They made it home in the 5th one, landed in Bangor, Maine and waited on the West Coast for their orders to the Pacific.

Earlier that year in February, the Big Three Allied powers met at Yalta to decide the fate of post war Europe. Among the things they discussed were:

• The dividing up of Germany
• The formation of the United Nations
• German war reparations
• The entry of Soviet forces into the Far-Eastern front (Japan)
• The final, and most difficult issue, the future of Poland

Thus were the seeds of the Cold War sown. George S. Patton, brilliant General and Enfant Terrible of the European ground theater, was killed not long thereafter in occupied Germany, Franklin Delano Roosevelt died that April and Harry S. Truman was left to oversee the end of the War in the Pacific.

Sixty Four years later, those seeds have grown into trees whose branches comprise the world of geopolitics, and the world is now truly a global village, rendering more true than ever the ancient Chinese admonition that the air moved from the flutter of a butterfly's wing is felt around the world. Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the "New World" are indeed on the brink of a "New World Order" so many have predicted, if not advocated, and the phrase "We Are All One" has taken on a new, fairly ominous meaning. As the current resident of the White House muddles on, taking America down a bit more each day, Tom Hayden's review of Mark Rudd's book on the days of Protest as they turned into days of Resistance raises questions indeed: not, of course, as to whether it is acceptable to blow people up a la Bill Ayers and Tim McVeigh, [who was most probably just another Jihadist's dupe]--but, more importantly, when does the realization that Protest, which is directed at entities one believes will listen, turn into Resistance, which moves forward with the sad realization that a government no longer listens or cares about the sentiments of its citizens. Regardless of what one may believe about Hayden, Rudd or any of those old time revolutionaries, Hayden illustrates the difference and the turning point between that of peaceful protest and resigned resistance. Had they only known then what would be occurring those 40 years hence...

My father and so many of his brave fellow soldiers are gone now. I am almost relieved that they did not have to live to see the desecration of the Constitution and the Country they fought so hard and risked so much to protect.

Among other atrocities, under cover of "Flu Mania, "H.R. 1388 was passed yesterday, surreptitiously of course. By executive order, pResident Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza .The "presidential determination", which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States , was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4. Few on Capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.

And, in case anyone may have forgotten some of these offenses in the onslaught, here is an itemized list of some of the worst of them since the coup "inauguration":

• His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.

• His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.

• He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted.

• He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed.

• He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.

• He is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.

It's the INCOMPETENCE, Stupid!

Believe it or not, once in awhile, someone still asks, or worse yet, ASSUMES that my point of view is simply the result of a long held resentment 'because 'MY' candidate didn't win.' Well, first of all, she DID win. Yes, I know that media tried to tell us differently, but the facts, if anyone cares, are that Hillary Clinton not only won the primaries BUT had the numbers needed to win in Denver as well. Like it or not, these are the facts. I was there and I saw it. However, that ship has long since sailed under the admiralty of Howard "The Scream" Dean, vice admiral Nancy Pelosi and midshipman Donna Brazile, and this issue, for now, at least, is moot.

The idea that anyone could still even contemplate the wan concept of anger as PUMA's raison d'etre is simply astounding because the facts, i.e., that the DNC purposefully and methodically perpetrated voter fraud upon the American public by illegally installing the losing candidate, an inexperienced, unvetted and completely unqualified candidate, while not readily available on main stream media, are not really that hard to find. Having seen in-my-face, up-close-and-personally the horrors perpetrated by the DNC on the American public and the democratic system, I sometimes forget that there are still a few Americans who remain relatively uninformed about what their party has perpetrated upon them, and, worse yet, don't seem to want to know, either. As Thomas Jefferson's oft quoted wisdom states,

"All tyranny needs to flourish is that good men remain silent."

I forget that most people have not been in the trenches, on the ground and in the news in the fight to restore honesty to media and democracy to voters. A recent Associated Press story glibly proclaimed that “deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House.” The story relied on an AP-Yahoo poll that posed questions regarding race to white Democrats.

One is left to wonder why questions regarding race were not posed to black Democrats or why the “poll” was more of a word association test, left open to completely subjective reasoning in deciphering results. But anyone who has been following the Democratic Party rifts from this season’s primaries and caucuses would not, in my opinion, be inclined to buy the it’s-all-about-race argument.

It’s quite troubling, really, that mainstream media outlets are focusing upon “racial misgivings” factors, while all but ignoring the major divides among voting constituencies that occurred during the nominating contest between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. These rifts revolved much more around exactly how Barack Obama received the Democratic nomination than any sort of racial divide or even sour grapes.
In fact, there are dozens of voter groups which claim outright that Barack Obama’s nomination was garnered illegitimately and with decidedly undemocratic methods. These are the PUMA people, the NoBama folks, the caucus-fraud investigators, and a whole lot of others who fervently believe that Barack Obama is not the legitimate nominee of the Democratic Party electorate, but the nominee of the party elite and caucus strong-arm tactics.
If Barack Obama loses a large swath of traditionally Democratic voters in November, then the party should conduct serious introspection, not point fingers at white bigots and rednecks.

Howard Dean and his minions who control the Democratic Party apparatus should examine the methods used by Obama to grab the nomination and his manipulation of the caucus system, and take a long, serious look inward to see if their party still deserves the adjective “democratic.”

In the Democratic nominating contest, some votes count more than others

When the Democratic Party changed all of its nominating rules following the convention of 1968, the goal of nominating a candidate who could win the general election was changed to a goal of nominating a candidate representative of the various special constituencies of the party and rewarding party loyalty, not electability.

At the beginning of the contest, the African-American vote was split in Clinton’s favor, especially on the gender line.

Believe it or not, we're not angry--at least, not anymore. We're in love: in love with our country and its forefathers' words of wisdom; in love with our fellow countrymen and women; in love with the Democratic ideals of Franklin Delano Roosevelt; and in love with the conviction that, like our courageous forefathers and mothers, we CAN make a difference; we CAN restore truth, honor and integrity to our country and its media; and, together, we CAN build the world of equality and prosperity we all envision. But...It's TRUE!!

When Bill O'Reilly, responding to a stated fact, exclaimed,

"But it's TRUE!" to Frank Luntz, on last night's show, Luntz replied,

"Yes it is, but it doesn't MATTER that it's true; what MATTERS is PERCEPTION."

And that should end today's post. Purely and simply, like it or not, the truth has long been cast aside, thrown under the bus and disregarded as little more than an occasional annoyance by political strategists and main stream media. The evidence is overwhelmingly clear and incontrovertible. Today as I trolled cable news [kicking and screaming--it is painful to watch and fruitless for information gathering purposes unless the info I want concerns which network's telling which lies and for whom] for Bailout info, I was, as usual, appalled as I saw channel after channel give voice to some of the biggest whoppers I have seen--and that's saying something!

For example, I SAW John McCain and even, god help me, George Bush stating that Fannie and Freddie needed oversight to prevent an economic disaster in 2005; youtube.com/watch?v=cMnSp4qEXNM , youtube.com/watch?v=_ROOriYvJM4 I SAW Barney Frank, Democrat par excellence, at the same time, state unequivocably that NOTHING should be done about it, youtube.com/watch?v=H5tZc8oH I SAW the Democratic Black Caucus speaking strongly against any kind of oversight or preventive measures youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs . And I SAW Bill Clinton saying that these Democrats refused all Republican attempts to reel these agencies in. And yet, today, I heard main stream media taking every opportunity to blame it all on the Republicans. Now, let me be the first to remind you that I am a life long Democrat of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt persuasion. Never mind "Reagan Democrat"--for the life of me I still cannot begin to fathom just exactly what that is; having survived the Reagan era [just barely], I can tell you that I never knew a Democrat who supported him or his cockamamy ideas. But I do know what FDR stood for, and what, as the head of the Democratic Party, he tried in instill in that party, and the miracles he accomplished getting our country back on track after the crash of '29. He was supremely unpopular with conservatives, beloved by many and served an incredible three terms as POTUS. And he accomplished all of it without, Joe Biden's assertions notwithstanding, television. Print media in the 1930s, and even the '40's, '50s and '60s still pretty much respected and adhered to journalism's Professional Standards, and TV was too nascient in its early years to have gone astray. It has only been over the last twenty years that main stream media has followed itself down the darkest path there is: that of self delusion about its importance and its obligation to report the truth objectively. The saddest part about this decline was twofold. The technology itself held the potential to inform an electorate as never before, but instead devolved into the basest of tools for those with the most money to assert their influence, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week by having paid, self proclaimed pundits and pollsters supplant news casters.

Instead of Ed Murrow, we have an actor named Keith reading a script, trying to sound as he thought Murrow might have sounded when he read the news. Instead of Walter Cronkite, we have Frank Luntz telling us that the truth matters no more: it's all about PERCEPTION. And that is the most devastating aspect of all. Luntz is right, and he's about the only one telling the truth now.
