It'ssss....TEA TIME, Folks! Let Liberty Live!

Tea Party 2009!! This vast, fast growing movement is sweeping the country like so many Paul Reveres on midnight rides! Almost overnight, the People of America, having watched this administration pass an unread bill numbering over a thousand pages filled with hidden, secret agenda contrary to thethe call to a new American Tea Party. CNBC's Rick Santelli issuing the "tea party" call at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange As WND reported, CNBC analyst Rick Santelli became a YouTube sensation after he spoke out against President Obama's proposed $275 billion deficit-financed homeowner bailout plan and other massive spending measures with a call for a new "tea party" from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In a nearly three-minute rant that drew approving hoots and comments from nearby traders, Santelli said the Obama administration's promotion of bad behavior must be causing the Founding Fathers to roll over in their graves. "We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July," Santelli told CNBC "Squawk Box" co-anchor Joe Kernan. interests of the American People have decided that ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

Tea Parties patterned after the original Boston Tea Party in 1773, have sprung up all over the United States this week and continue to do so. The original, a direct action protest by the American colonists against the British Government in which they destroyed many crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company and dumped it into the Boston Harbor , was in part a protest against taxation without representation, and was a major catalyst of the American Revolution. It remains an iconic event of American history, forever emblazoned in our minds as the ultimate act of frustration against unheeding and uncaring Big Govenment, and is often translated into the famous line from the film, "Network," in which character Howard Beale, played by Peter Finch, exclaims, "WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!"

It is clear that Americans share his frustration and are not going to put up with Government pillage any longer. Michelle Malkin http://michellemalkin.com/2009/02/27/fiscal-responsibility-is-the-new-counterculture/ has been blogging and reporting on various actions around the country and posting photos from, among others, San Diego, North Carolina, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Nashville, Portland, Shelby, AL, Lansing, MI, Cleveland, OH, Houston and Austin, TX, Denver, Orlando and Hartford, CT.

One thing certain is that there are definitely many more to come, and the movement is growing quickly, with a large Fourth of July Party planned along with myriad others.

For more information, check in to Michelle Malkin's site or Scroogle "Tea Party 2009"

Rick Santelli initiated the call to a new American Tea Party last week. Truth Escaping Despite Supreme Efforts to the Contrary by Media & Gov't.

We bring to you an update from just one of the many Tea Parties that are taking place around the country this week, this one from You Tube's very own bloggerinterrupted, entitled, "Tea Party Protestors Believe Obama NOT US-Born" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNQUA0bI5b0
Clearly, the word is out among Americans--the question now is whether the besotted and boondoggled main stream media will dare to report the truth about what Americans feel about the administration that has been thrust upon them against their will.

Lest We Pay the Price Too Dear...Learn From History!

I cross post today an urgent message, gleaned from three very well informed journalists who know their history well. Urgency dictates that I introduce them and furnish you with the links from which to read their messages in entirety.

The first, by Eric Margolis, reminds us of Afghanistan's solid history of making mincemeat out of its invaders, from Alexander the Great in 327–325 BC, to the Soviets in 1989, disasters all.
http://www.lewrockwell.com/margolis/margolis138.html

In the second, Kevin Barrett reveals in OpEdNews's "Obama: Political Messiah, or Just Another Third World Dictator?" the facts behind the most recent resident of our White House and cites Webster Tarpley's work in detail, Tarpley being among the foremost political and historical researchers of our time. Further research has substantiated the fact that indeed, Tarpley's work is almost faultless in terms of his list of players and the historical context in which they exist.

The third of this terrifying trilogy is Christopher Bollyn's work on Obama’s new budget director Peter R. Orszag.
Oddly, Orszag’s background has received virtually no attention in the media. At this critical moment, however, it would be foolish to ignore the troubling background of Obama’s budget director, which deserves to be looked at very carefully. Orszag, for example, could start by explaining exactly what happened to the Icelandic economy. Orszag was, after all, the founder and president of the economic consultancy firm which advised the Central Bank of Iceland - before it went bankrupt. How did Icelandic banks become so indebted? Ask Peter Orszag.Orszag is an economist who served six years in the Clinton administration (1993-8) under Robert E. Rubin, the former treasury secretary who recently resigned from his senior position at the woefully mismanaged and nearly bankrupt Citigroup. The fact that Orszag was a protégé of the now disgraced Rubin certainly does not bode well for the Obama administration.

Rubin strongly opposed the regulation of derivatives when such regulation was proposed in 1997. Credit derivatives of mortgage-backed securities were the key reason for the recent failure of a number of large financial institutions, including AIG and Citigroup.

In 1999, Rubin joined Citigroup as a board member and a participant "in strategic managerial and operational matters of the Company.” The Wall Street Journal noted that Citigroup shareholders suffered losses of more than 70 percent since Rubin joined the firm and that he encouraged changes that led the firm to the brink of collapse. In December 2008, investors filed a lawsuit contending that Citigroup executives, including Rubin, sold shares at inflated prices while concealing the firm’s risks.

It is only by educating ourselves and others that we can hope to right the wrongs perpetrated against our nation by seeking redress under our Constitution, and keeping a watchful eye on not only our elected, selected and perfected officials, but those whom they would seek to appoint. Lest we, as George Santayana warn, be doomed to repeat it, history must be learned applied to us all through learning, sharing and action.

Godspeed, Geert Wilders, Ms. Placed Dem & Logistics Monster

A hearty thanks to our Logistics Monster and Ms. Placed Democrat--You, who always *Say It All*! Those who briefly celebrated Alabama Senator Shelby for timidly raising a question about the illegal alien in the White House, and whose hopes were short lived when he back tracked in front of CNN must also remember that this *brave patriot* [NOT] also did not make his voice heard at the time of the Senate vote to certify this Usurper. Tea Parties abound, from sea to shining sea--as OpEdNews covers the latest on 10th Amendment doings and States' Rights issues. As noted yesterday, there are now 28 states engaged in exploring and/or passing resolutions asserting their rights under the U.S. Constitution. One might venture to say that, had our educational system been more thoughtfully administered, we might not be in this present sad state of affairs, with Americans scratching their heads and trying to remember just what it was the Constitution meant ...intended ...stated ...and why they didn't pay better attention the day it was covered in school. Sadly, that noble document upon which our nation has proceeded, both needs and deserves entire semesters devoted to its study.

Because our First Amendment rights are so sacred, and our guarantee of these rights becoming more tenuous each day, I reprint the following excerpt from Geert Wilders's speech, given at New York's Four Seasons, on February 23, 2009. Requiring no further explanation, it appears in its entirety at his website. http://www.geertwilders.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1535&Itemid=1 Save for comment below by "Not a Sheep," I leave it to the reader to decide two things:

1. How important to you are our First Amendment Rights; and
2. Are you aware of how dangerously close we are to losing them with
the advent of main stream media's political correctness and word
police operatives.

This is the essence of my short introduction today: where the left and Islam come together, freedom will suffer.
My friends, make no mistake, my prosecution is a full-fledged attack by the left on freedom of speech in order to please Muslims. It was started by a member of the Dutch Labour party, and the entire legal proceeding is done by well-to-do liberals, the radical chic of Dutch society, the snobbish left. Too much money, too much time, too little love of liberty. If you read what the court of Amsterdam has written about me, you read the same texts that cultural relativists produce.
How low can we go in the Netherlands? About my prosecution, The Wall Street Journal noted: “this is no small victory for Islamic regimes seeking to export their censorship laws to wherever Muslims reside”. The Journal concluded that by The Netherlands accepting the free speech standards of, “Saudi-Arabia”, I stand correct in my observation that - I quote - “Muslim immigration is eroding traditional Dutch liberties”.
Now, if the Wall Street Journal has the moral clarity to see that my prosecution is the logical outcome of our disastrous, self-hating, multiculturalists immigration policies, then why can’t the European liberal establishment see the same thing? Why aren’t they getting at least a little bit scared by the latest news out of, for example, the UK. News that tells that the Muslim population in Britain is growing ten times as fast as the rest of society. Why don’t they care?

The answer is: they don’t care because they are blinded by their cultural relativism. Their disdain of the West is so much greater than the appreciation of our many liberties. And therefore, they are willing to sacrifice everything. The left once stood for women rights, gay rights, equality, democracy. Now, they favour immigration policies that will end all this. Many even lost their decency. Elite politicians have no problem to participate in or finance demonstrations where settlers shout “Death to the Jews”. Seventy years after Auschwitz they know of no shame.
Two weeks ago, I tried to get into Britain, a fellow EU country. I was invited to give a speech in Parliament. However, upon arrival at London airport, I was refused entry into the UK, and sent back on the first plane to Holland. I would have loved to have reminded the audience of a great man who once spoke in the House of Commons. In 1982 President Reagan gave a speech there very few people liked. Reagan called upon the West to reject communism and defend freedom. He introduced a phrase: ‘evil empire’. Reagan’s speech stands out as a clarion call to preserve our liberties. I quote: If history teaches anything, it teaches self-delusion in the face of unpleasant facts is folly. What Reagan meant is that you cannot run away from history, you cannot escape the dangers of ideologies that are out to destroy you. Denial is no option.

So, what should we do? Is this a good moment for freedom-loving people to give in or to change course? To all-of-a-sudden start singing praise of Islam, or proclaiming there is such a thing as a moderate Islam? Will we now accept the continuation of Muslim mass immigration to the West? Will we appease sharia and jihad? Should we sacrifice gay rights and women rights? Or democracy? Should we sell out Israel, our dearest ally, and a frontline state of Islam?
Well, my humble opinion is: No way, Jose!
I suggest to defend freedom in general and freedom of speech in particular. I propose the withdrawal of all hate speech legislation in Europe. I propose a European First Amendment. In Europe we should defend freedom of speech like you Americans do. In Europe freedom of speech should be extended, instead of restricted. Of course, calling for violence or unjustly yelling “fire” in a crowded theatre have to be punished, but the right to criticize ideologies or religions are necessary conditions for a vital democracy. As George Orwell once said: “If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear”.

Let us defend freedom of speech and let us gain strength and work hard to become even stronger. Millions think just like you and me. Millions think liberty is precious. That democracy is better than sharia. And after all, why should we be afraid? Our many freedoms and our prosperity are the result of centuries of endeavour. Centuries of hard work and sacrifice. We do not stand alone, and we stand on the shoulders of giants.

Late December 1944 the American army was suddenly faced with a last-ditch effort by the Germans. In the Ardennes, in the Battle of the Bulge, Hitler and his national-socialists fought for their last chance. And they were very successful. Americans faced defeat, and death.
In the darkest of winter, in the freezing cold, in a lonely forest with snow and ice as even fiercer enemies than the Nazi war machine itself, the American army was told to surrender. That might be their only chance to survive. But General McAuliffe thought otherwise. He gave the Germans a short message. This message contained just four letters. Four letters only, but never in the history of freedom was a desire for liberty and perseverance in the face of evil expressed more eloquently than in that message. It spelled N – U – T – S. “Nuts”.
My friends, the national-socialists got the message. Because it left no room for interpretation! I suggest we walk in the tradition of giants like General McAuliffe and the American soldiers who fought and died for the freedom of my country and for a secular and democratic Europe, and we tell the enemies of freedom just that. NUTS! Because that’s all there is to it. No explanations. No beating around the bush. No caveats.
Our enemies should know: we will never apologize for being free men, we will never bow for the combined forces of Mecca and the left. And we will never surrender. We stand on the shoulders of giants. There is no stronger power than the force of free men fighting for the great cause of liberty. Because freedom is the birthright of all man.

May you be well and stay safe, Geert. You are a brave patriot. Godspeed and save you from persecution, prosecution and other ills.

I urge all who hold First Amendment rights sacred to visit his site, spread the word of his plight, see "Fitna" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZI0DFhcarY&feature=PlayList&p=35DD115CD32A3290&playnext=1&index=39 and donate to his cause.

NOTE: Live Leak speaks:

Update: LiveLeak speaks:

LiveLeak.com has a strict stance on remaining unbiased and allowing freedom of speech as so far as the law and our rules allow. There was no legal reason to refuse Geert Wilders the right to post his film (Fitna) on LiveLeak.com and it is not our place to censor people based on an emotive response. We in no way endorse Geert Wilders, his views, nor the views expressed within Fitna. To many of us involved in LiveLeak.com some of the messages therein are personally offensive. That being said, our being offended is no reason to deny Mr Wilders the right to have his film seen. Pre-emptive censorship or a discriminatory policy towards freedom of speech are both things we oppose here on LiveLeak.com. A person has a simple, clear choice about whether to view this film. No one is being forced to view it and nor is it being broadcasted on every channel on their television set. If you click on media simply to be annoyed, it is pointless to blame others for your choice.

We do not intend on defending the content of Fitna, only our choice to allow it. Anyone has the full right of reply on LiveLeak.com. Any person or organizations are free to post their opinion and, dependent on said response falling within both the law and our rules, we will afford such responses equal exposure. There are undoubtedly better ways to spark a discussion but this film is now out there and we believe we should all grasp this opportunity to create an open dialogue and discussion on this subject.

How'm I Doin' Pt. Two

According to many, among them Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters, The One, after a month in office, is less popular than both W and Carter during theirs. Contrary to the ongoing and pathetic attempts of mainstream media to hoist him forward, the blush seems indeed to be off the rose. Keith Olberman, MSNBC's starry eyed fan of the election cycle, has begun to fret that "Obama acts disturbingly like Bush." I've got news for him: Web Tarpley warned us as long ago as Spring, 2008 that this guy, with Brzeznski at the helm, was going to make the neocons look like Mother Theresa singing 'Kum-by-a". And, as if that weren't enough, it is clear that others inside the loop feel equally uncomfortable. LameCherry writes,
"Did you notice Sec. of War Robert Gates not wanting any part of this Obama cage in being slow to rise and looking completely uncomfortable stuck between Obama groupies and being the photo op of "Obama really knows about war".
It doesn't matter how nice of suit the press dresses Birdie Obama in as he is still a chameleon and in shedding his skin he is showing he has the brain of a newt and the press has no confidence in him by their enabling."
Moreover, Marion Valentine, former Navy Intel, continues to post a plethora of solid information on the web of links behind this operative on Political Pyro.
"I guess my years in Navy Intel ruined me, instead of looking at events separately, I try to connect many seemingly unrelated events but have the same thing in common...."
Like our wise Logistics Monster, he reminds us to always look at the big picture, to connect seemingly unrelated issues and events and to seek the common thread. Never has it been more imperative for us to do so. The very fate of our nation, its economy and its Constitution hangs in the balance, and it has been painfully clear for a long time that main stream American media has failed us completely by refusing to report fact objectively. With few exceptions such as Glenn Beck of FOX, they suppress facts, promulgate propaganda and leave the American electorate completely in the dark like so many mushrooms.

And so, that is why Americans have forsaken the bizarre fluff of main stream media for the open range of the internet's bloggers and commentators; live streaming radio talk has burgeoned and websites like Logistics Monster, Political Pyro, Texas Darlin' and Insight Analytical continue to abound. Our radio shows, like Andrea Shea King, Mommae's Radio Rebels, Sentinel Radio, My Two Cents Presents Constitutional Radio and The Dame Truth are committed to bringing the truth to the forefront in the effort to educate ourselves and the American people about things many of us had comfortably put aside: our Constitution, Bill of Rights, corporate connections to political and government entities and all the rest of those slimy things sitting on the slippery slopes of a descent into economic and political chaos and the loss of our rights.

It has now come to light in an essay published today at Counterpunch.org that former Assistant Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts confirms that the U.S. government has been leasing gold to suppress its price and support the dollar. The admission is made in the last paragraph of the essay, which is appended.

If incompetence in Washington, the type of incompetence that produced the current economic crisis, destroys the dollar as reserve currency, the "unipower" will overnight become a third world country, unable to pay for its imports or to sustain its standard of living.

How long can the US government protect the dollar's value by leasing its gold to bullion dealers who sell it, thereby holding down the gold price? Given the incompetence in Washington and on Wall Street, our best hope is that the rest of the world is even less competent and even in deeper trouble. In this event, the US dollar might survive as the least valueless of the world's fiat currencies.

It is incumbent upon us to notice, to read, speak and share our observations and knowledge. It is important to note such things as the word "crisis" being iterated over and over in speeches, all the better to prepare us to willingly surrender to martial law in fear of our lives.

Note that as many as 28 states have or are now entertaining and passing resolutions to assert their States Rights and soverignty under the 10th Amendment as a result of Federal eyes on States' monies and 2nd Amendment issues. This has not happened since the mid 19th century and NO, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

We rally and support one another in the initiative to report the news as it is, not as They would have us see it. I don't know about you, but I just sat on my tinfoil hat--I realize I don't need it anymore, for we have seen the Enemy and it is *They!* Now, What are we going to do about it?!"

Getting The Word Out!

This has been a Week! With much of it having been devoted to birthing the website for "The Dame Truth" and developing its debut with my cohost, Patriot Rose, which airs this and future Mondays at 11 PM EST, this week came and went faster than the speed of light, which, incidentally, has been gracing us with its presence a bit longer each day, a sure harbinger that a long awaited Spring can't be far behind--exactly a month from today, in fact! A time of redemption, regrouping and new growth, I'm already seeing a Movement that has taken a deep breath, gotten its second wind, and is gearing itself up for the year ahead with many plans and projects.

Meanwhile, from Home Base, a reminder to tune in tonight at 11 PM EST for a special edition of "Kicking Back With Central Park" as we welcome cyberspace's foremost researcher/blogger, Diamond Tiger of Logistics Monster to share her experience with intelligence gathering and visitation by large numbers of huge entities both public and private. Her story is one of brilliance, bravery and astonishment. Callers welcome, chat always open and questions and comment invited!

And so it goes...enjoy the weekend everyone and keep your ear to the ground, shoulder to the wheel and nose to the grindstone...and don't hurt your back!

So...How'm I Doing?!

Well, that is one phrase we'll never hear uttered from the mouth of Mr. Obama. Firstly, unless it appears on a teleprompter, we have no fear of hearing anything of substance or even the slightest bit of concern from this individual. Were I to try to list all the lies and reversals that have occurred thus far, not even a month into the White House, the post would run for pages. Suffice to say, however, that all is not glittering on that paeon [peon?] of pyrite. HR-1, better known as the Stimulus Bill [one has to realize that "Stimulus" for one does not equal "stimulus" for another, and, in this case, the American people are NOT the ones being "stimulated" here] finally reached print at 11:00 PM the night before the vote, so of course no one was actually able to READ the thing in its thousand plus incarnation before voting on it. Despite the fact that my Saturday night show, "Kicking Back With Central Park" devoted its entire 90 minutes to the job exposing some of its more glaring horrors, neither Congress, nor the American people were able to get any truly comprehensive specific information about its thousand some pages before that vote.

As Jeff Emanuel points out in his February 9 Redstate.com piece,

"It doesn’t get much simpler or more clear-cut than this. During his campaign, President Obama promised that he “will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days.”

The so-called “stimulus” bill was passed by the Senate just before midnight on Friday night (after Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-OH, arrived on the publicly-funded private jet Obama sent to fetch him from his mother’s funeral and cast the deciding vote for the package neither he nor a single other member of Congress has read).

President Obama, who has also not read the $787,000,000,000.00 borrow-and-spend bill, has announced that he will sign the debt legislation into law on Tuesday in Denver. [What, was he too busy going to Camp David, checking out the basketball court, going to Chicago for Valentine's Day, putting his picture up with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in celebration of those great mens' birthdays, reading to children at an elementary school and making preparations to fly to DENVER to sign that turkey of a pork bill??]

The legislation was posted on WhiteHouse.Gov on Friday afternoon (at 2:05pm EST), but was not passed until that night. So, let’s count the days: Saturday-1. Sunday-2. Monday-3. Signing on Tuesday. That’s three days, not five.

Among other things, this little tidbit lay deep inside, crusted in its shell and working hard to recreate itself as a pearl for certain entities:
"Another unforgivable flaw is how the bill makes huge changes on major national policies without any significant debate. One provision guts the 1996 welfare reform law, which reduced caseloads by 70 percent. Instead, individuals will again be entitled to unlimited lifetime benefits without work requirements and, amazingly, states will have financial incentives to increase caseloads."
One has only to read Jack Kelly's op-ed at Real Clear Politics to see what has really transpired here, and that, indeed the Pyrite's victory is Pyrrhic indeed.

And this, while the Obama/Soetoros whine that their job is too hard, the White House too confining [despite the in-house bowling alley, candy maker and Kobe beef cooking chef], and that they need more vacations. Almost before the ink was dry on the lease, off they trundled to Camp David, thanking all "the little people" for making it possible. I would urge you to read American Thinker's Lauri Regan on "The Audacity of the Obamas"-- it is clear that, for those who claimed not to know it before, we are in deep trouble with this bunch of usurpers, and just because main stream media has been coopted or drugged into not reporting it does not mean it's not a problem, which brings us to yet another front on this multifaceted nightmare.

As much as main stream media refuses to report it, the ineligibility issue is NOT going away. Once thought to be the purview of only Eastern Bloc countries and Banana Republics [the former set up, in fact, by American corporate interests like United Fruit], news suppression and propaganda have new firmly established themselves in the U.S. as the method by which usurpers, pretenders and big money interests attempt to control the people. However, the older models, from which arose Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and the later Cloward-Piven/Saul Alinsky games did not factor in technology, which has given us, among other things, the internet. It is indeed difficult to hoodwink and control a people if they have alternatives to msm disseminated information and access to communication and so, my friends, the news does continue to emerge despite the best efforts of Those Who Would Usurp. To wit, among others, one Lame Cherry entertains us with a wild but fact filled introduction of one Fredric D. Woocher, Esq. of Strumwasser & Woocher, as it is his firm which Barack Hussein Dunham, Obama, Soetero has contacted to spend even more money in attempting to obscure Mr. Obama's true identity by hiding his Occidental College records in California.

As Alan Keyes, a plaintiff in one of the myriad suits challenging Obama/Soetoro's eligibility and abrogation of the U.S. Constitution points out,

"Now Obama's lawyers have filed a motion to quash our effort to obtain the relevant documents (cf. Bob Unruh's WND article Sanctions sought in eligibility case.) I am told that it includes a demand that monetary penalties be assessed against me and the other plaintiffs in the suit. Though not unexpected, this motion confirms Obama's ruthless determination to destroy anyone who continues to seek the information the Constitution requires. Why should they demand penalties against citizens who are simply seeking the enforcement of the Supreme Law of the Land? It is simply because their persistence runs contrary to the will of a supposedly popular demagogue? This smacks of tyrannical arrogance. That Obama thus signals his intent to bring financial ruin on those who won't accept his cover-up of the circumstances of his birth is a tactical escalation. It confirms the common sense suspicion that he won't act forthrightly in this matter because he has something to hide.

"As one of the targets of this escalation, I need no more convincing proof of the ruthless disposition so far successfully masked by his empty rhetoric of hope and change. Obviously he means to offer hope only to those willing to surrender their most basic rights. To any who insist on questioning his actions, he offers the drastic change of ruin and destruction. So be it. We shall be among those who learn firsthand the meaning of the sacrifices made by the Founders of our free republic, as they pledged and gave up their lives, their fortunes and the world's esteem."

So, what is one to do in these times that so try [wo]men's souls? While we must each decide what our part is in our country's and Constitution's health, I leave you with some ultra, uber saliant words, shared with us from none other than the fearless and fact laden Logistics Monster:

To borrow a line from Glenn Beck; “You are the Protectors of Liberty”, which means you have a couple of questions to ask yourself.

  1. Am I a true patriot that believes in the principles laid down by the Constitution and the Founding Fathers, or am I a socialist sheep that would be running for South America if I were a Nazi SS officer?
  2. What, when, where, and how am I willing to protect these principles and liberties for myself, my family and future generations?

No answer required; it is just something you need to start thinking about and have clear answers for those questions. Also, you might want to think about looking beyond the immediate disenfranchisement problem.

And, last but most certainly not least, our brilliant founding father, Thomas Jefferson:

“Scenes are now to take place as will open the eyes of credulity and of insanity itself, to the dangers of a paper medium abandoned to the discretion of avarice and of swindlers.” –Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Cooper, 1814. ME 14:189

Be well, stay safe, and, for continued illuminating and exciting discussions on our Constitution, don't forget to tune in to tonight's edition of "Constitutional Radio!"

Blessings, Nino;)

My Funny Valentine

Behold my Teddy, my Valentine for all time. Not one to "prop" my beloved canis majorae by dressing them in human garb, I came to this particular shot by way of a party favor--shot in a lost moment of whimsy, years past, forgotten til today, as I browsed through some ancient frames. Happy here he is not--unused to wearing hats, he was bored and confused as he dutifully posed to indulge my silly whim. Loyal, loving, obedient to a fault, he was my beloved Sancho Panza as we tilted at the East Hampton windmill on our way between the dunes of Southampton and the Hudson Valley hills. He is gone now, to rest with the angels that only dogs can see, but to me he will ever be my Valentine.

One must take the bitter with the sweet in this world; to do otherwise would be to deny oneself the ability to distinguish between them, and thus the ability to know joy. We learn of corruption and despair, fraud and theft, the erosion of our political system--hearts broken, we rally to rescue, building in numbers as we work to right the wrongs and protect our Constitution; and in the process, we are blessed with the gift of thousands of other kindred souls; our shared values and love of country and one another is the chocolate that fuels us for the long haul. I am daily honored to know and work with so many brilliant, committed, hard working Americans in all walks of life; I gain courage from the bravery of our troops, and hope from those with whom I work in the movement to save our beloved country. Is it perfect? Of course not--nothing created by humans, themselves imperfect, could be. But therein lies the joy and the miracle: how do we, imperfect humans that we are, manage to create so much wonder, beauty, love and inspiration? It is the beauty of the human psyche, despite all its imperfections, that makes us what we are. Some would call it Spirit, some would all it Soul. I call it Love, in all its imperfect glory.

And, so it goes...things change...we don't always know whether for better or for worse, except that, ultimately, as one of my beloved mentors used to say, "All Things Work For Good." Out of pain comes joy...fear, courage...and, most importantly, out of Chaos, Order. If you doubt this, stand in the middle of Grand Central Station at rush hour and behold what seems utter mayhem. Then consider what it will look like two hours later, when all the scrambling souls have found their ways home, a fitting end to another day. The bitter scourge of loss gives way to new love...witness Baby Lulu here, my desperate antidote to the loss of my Teddy, just three weeks from his passing. I raced to Princeton, where my friend Ann Johnson breeds Gold-Rush darlings and was followed to the car by this waddling little wad of fur who sat in my lap as we drove north, looked out the window, and promptly threw up, after which she curled up and slept all the way home with a smile on her puppy face. She is indeed a Lulu, but the perfect antidote to a heart broken by the loss of a noble friend. She has taught me a lot, but most of all, I have learned that life goes on, and "it's all good"-- even the bad and the ugly. God takes many forms, and I rejoice in them all.

Friday the 13th

For some, the number 13 portends challenge--there are many tall buildings which do not have a 13 floor, or at least do not CALL the 13th floor by that name; many go from #12 to #14 in the hope of averting what is sometimes termed as "bad luck." There are others who profess faith in the good luck brought by that number. In my view, it all comes down to circumstance, vision and attitude.

On February 13, 1944, a sunny Sunday morning, my father's B-17 was shot down on the way back from a "milk run" [beware, always, those words!] as he returned from what was supposed to be an easy mission. Hit by three German Folke-wolfe 190s, one of his crew was killed instantly as the plane plummeted toward the of the English Channel, sinking so fast that they were unable to ditch before it hit the water. My father, an officer and a gentleman to the end, was the last man out of the sinking ship and the lifeboat did not work. He held up two of the men who couldn't swim until they were rescued, first by a seaplane that blew its engines trying to carry so many people and then by a minesweeper. My dad and the other 8 survivors continued to fly until the end of the war.

Last year I made contact with someone who saw my dad's plane get shot down that day. He said, " We were flying over the Channel and it was a bright, beautiful, sunny day. The mission was over and the guys (from other planes) had all got out of their ball turrets. I didn't. I was in mine looking back at France. All of a sudden three Folke-wolfe 190s come right at us and fired 20 mm cannons. They went right underneath me and hit the plane below."

Now, the odds of finding someone who saw that plane go down, and is still alive to tell the story are small indeed. My father always celebrated that day; he called it his "real" birthday, the day he was given the rest of his life. Many years later, he joined an organization that was formed on that same day in 1913--The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. For him, the number 13 held significance indeed.

The point is, we don't always know whether an event is good or bad, for ultimately each series of events unfolds to reveal the next. So, even though things may look bad for our country today...keep the faith...never give up...keep treading to stay afloat in that cold Channel water of Challenge...and know that the rest of the story has yet to unfold!

Thank you Dad, for being you...may you be at peace among the true angels among us. I love you.

No Longer OUR Congress...

The 647 pages of HR1 was revised first by the Senate to a staggering 1500 pages and then reduced and revised (in little more than a day) by the Conference Committee with more alterations made. According to FOX News, both Houses of Congress were promised 48 hours to review this document before their crucial votes. But, yesterday they were told they must vote today. As of last evening, a GOP senator reported members had not even received a copy of the final legislation to review! Is the US Congress now reduced to little more than terrorized automatons who fear speaking out more than marching to the Obama Camp's dirge?

Note: Even though the pressure is on to make this bundle of radical and frivolous "laws" a done deal, a wave of protest for REVISION of HR1 remains critical. I would urge one and all to continue contacting representatives, Olympia Snow and Susan Collins of Maine, and Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, in particular, as they are three GOP representatives that claim to be supporting the nefarious and misleading load of pork contained in HR1.

W.A.M. is still conducting the HR1 REVISION PETITION DRIVE - so please go to the Wake Up America site and sign it or check in at the WAM Vision Board. United We Stand, so stand up for America, her Constitution and her Bill of Rights!

Life in The Squirrel Cage

Greetings one and all! Today brings the second and final day of the Westminster Dog Show, one of the only remaining benched shows here in the States, which means that "backstage," out of the rings in Madison Square Garden, the dogs and their owners and handlers are available for visit and conversation. It is truly one of the highlights of the Dog World Year, and while there are those who would not agree, my experience with it underlines the care and love for the preservation of breed standard throughout the canis majoris world.

What in god's name does this have to do with anything relevant in today's squirrel cage world, in which issues of such extreme severity rear their heads daily and send most of the sentient public into near heart failure?

Well, for one thing, it is an example of commitment to standards and the nurturing of things some of us care a great deal for. Yes, I know there are millions of wonderful mixed breed dogs needing homes; I myself have a mixed breed, a retired breeding bitch and a 3 and a half year old purebred golden retriever which I originally got for breeding purposes but decided against it when I realized that breeding her would not necessarily enhance or contribute to the breed standard. She's a love who is not being 'backyard bred' and contributing to an over population. But, I digress. The need for tolerance in our world cannot be overemphasized. While the show goes on inside, there are PETA members dressed in KKK attire, demonstrating outside. Now, I am a lover of animals and of my country; I am also a believer in tolerance. While we cannot possibly ever ALL agree on every issue, we have to agree that our country comes first--if it doesn't, then NO one will have any rights, privileges or freedoms, and that includes the freedom to have purebred or mixed breed animals, eat or not eat meat, or any other personal choice.

The point is that we who love our country and have learned perhaps more than we ever wanted to know about what is now wrong with it, subscribe to the same level of love and commitment as those who work to preserve and protect their chosen breed. In our case, our 'breed' is our nation itself and its people, the wonderful mixture of diversity, commitment and strength that make our country as great as it is. We are committed to protecting it from adulteration, from seeing its Constitution abrogated and dissolved, and to seeing it thrive and flourish as it was meant to since its birth over 200 years ago.

I am proud and honored to work alongside so many brilliant, hardworking, brave and committed individuals--too many to list in this post, but perhaps in another--and I am so pleased to welcome back Just Say No Deal 2.0! We are all regrouping and gearing up for the onslaught of 2009, which, I fear, will make our battles of 2008 seem mild by comparison, but we ARE here, we're working hard and making headway every day.

Viva La Vida, and Viva Les Etats Unis! God Bless America, its Constitution and its wonderful people! Tune in tonight for "Constitutional Radio" show # 4!

Kim Gandy, the Jim Dandy?

It seems that after all the betrayals, Kim Gandy, president of NOW,
has made public her intention to ask for one of the most powerful positions in the federal government for women: Director of the Women's Bureau in the Department of Labor.
Well, at least we can finally surmise the reasons behind her consistent refusal to stand behind
women's rights to dignity and respect during the 2008 election campaign, during which she
heartily abstained from speaking out against the horrendous media bias against Hillary Clinton and thus all women...like the Google Boys, she had something to gain...and apparently wanted it so much that she
was willing to stand silently by as media and the Obama camp slandered and slaughtered women's dignity with impunity throughout.
Feminist bloggers are, for the most part, a smart, scrappy bunch, given to expressing their ideas and
writing to protest wrongs perpetrated against other women. Today, we have been asked to respond to the current outrage by posting about it. And so, Kim Gandy, Resident Obama and the rest of all you pay to play folks out there, please be advised that we know who you are, and what stand you did or did not take against sexism, misogyny, and media bias.
By allowing a woman like Kim Gandy, who is clearly attempting to sell her position of power for another, bigger one, to be rewarded for selling out her constituents (women, we are setting a dangerous example and a poor precedent for the progress of women's rights.
To all those who would aid and abet this perfidy, keep it up if you insist. We are watching and we will write about the ills we see until sexism and misogyny are eradicated from our lexicon. We can tell a self serving phony a mile away and we do name names!

Plus Sa Change, Plus C'est La Meme...or, SSDY

I live in an old house, by New World standards, and, in my town, the oldest. Built of stone in pre-Revolutionary America, it has weathered the storms of time, both atmospheric and political, and remained, by some miracle, solid if not terribly straight, steadfastly refusing to buckle under either.

Thomas Paine, in his 1776 treatise, "The Crisis", wrote, "These are the times that try [our] souls." Written as part of a series of 16 pamplets over the course of the American Revolution, his intent was to inform, rally and motivate, in this case, the troops at Trenton. It is devastating to realize that the same is true today: our nation and indeed the world faces dire straits and rough waters ahead as the economic forecast blows closer to tsunami than soft breeze, and scary words like New World Order, Middle East Conflict and Economic Meltdown threaten to pull us down on the dangerous undertow from the illusory waves of hopeychange rhetoric that promised to lull America's furrowed brow back to the familiar complacency to which it had grown so accustomed. We hear, too, words like Foreclosure and Ford Foundation, Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations, Warburg, Bailout, World Bank, Brzeznski and The Fed, and wonder where our money went besides the pockets of Enron heads, bonuses for bank breaking C suite cabals and Bernie Madoff's cache cow. And, thankfully, too, we hear familiar, comforting words like Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Federalist Papers, Bill of Rights, Amendments and Committee of Safety.

It occurred to me suddenly yesterday, while writing a letter, that we in present day America share more than a few similarities with pre Independence America, and that there are many among us upon whom this irony is not lost...that after 250 years, we are once again facing some of the same issues that led to our declaring independence from the British Empire, except that THIS time, we have a blueprint from which we can draw solutions--IF those in power are willing to take their oath to defend it seriously enough to uphold it. Tax issues, First and Second Amendment rights, trust in government, universal suffrage and human rights are just a few of the issues which continue to challege us as a People and a Nation.

At the time of the American Revolution for Independence, and Thomas Paine's 'The Crisis", the house in which I now live was already at least ten years old. The people who lived here at that time had no Constitution. They had little else but grit, conviction and a supreme unwillingness to be used, bossed and beggared by distant, uncaring imperialists.

From Indiginous Peoples to Immigrants, Americans have long come here to make better lives, to be able to live as they choose and answer to no one, and the same holds true today. Americans are by and large a hearty lot, bringing strength in their diversity, courage and their desire to succeed through willingness to work. The individualist spirits of America and its people have become legend as a beacon to those who would withstand the test of hard work to overcome the yoke of tyranny.

Those were scary years, with Patriots and Loyalists at odds, each taking actions they felt best; they certainly heard about, read about, talked about and thought about the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, the Committee of Safety, the Bill of Rights. The people who lived in this house or members of their family fought in the War for Independence and worried about how they would survive in a nascent country in the dead of winter with the threat of the King's soldiers banging at their doors, forcing them to house foreign troops taking their food or arresting them for treason. Surely they were anxious about their future and that of their new country, just as I now am concerned about some of the same things as I live in that same house.

I know how it turned out for them: those documents and those people did bring forth a great nation, after many years of war, privation and turmoil. Living near the Hudson River between New York and Albany, the people here saw a lot; the town was burned during the War of 1812 but survived to host some of the oldest stone houses in the state.

Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Aaron Burr, George Clinton, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington all traveled through here on their ways back and forth to the Newburgh and Trenton encampments, to New York, Albany, Philadelphia and beyond; in some ways, the average yeomanry was probably better informed than are much of the populace today. They had a reasonably free Press, and television was centuries away from existence.

As I watch my Goldens play in the the falling snow outside my window on lands that were farmed those centuries ago, I take comfort in the strength, courage and conviction of the American People and our Troops, and the knowledge that our country was born and survived what seemed like unbeatable odds when this house was new; and as we face some of the most serious times in our history since, I know that as always, our American spirit will once again prevail.

As for taking action--today, as then, there are many of us who continue to fight for our Constitution, both here and in lands far away. "Constitutional Radio" is just one of many efforts afloat to educate and remind ourselves and others about its beauty, perfection and importance in maintaining our nation of laws. I hope you'll click on the Constitutional Radio logo at the right for a link to Blog Talk Radio's 'My Two Cents Presents Constitutional Radio with the Central Park 7, tonight and every Tuesday at 10:00 PM EST, and join us all in the love of country.
