Tea Parties patterned after the original Boston Tea Party in 1773, have sprung up all over the United States this week and continue to do so. The original, a direct action protest by the American colonists against the British Government in which they destroyed many crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company and dumped it into the Boston Harbor , was in part a protest against taxation without representation, and was a major catalyst of the American Revolution. It remains an iconic event of American history, forever emblazoned in our minds as the ultimate act of frustration against unheeding and uncaring Big Govenment, and is often translated into the famous line from the film, "Network," in which character Howard Beale, played by Peter Finch, exclaims, "WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!"
It is clear that Americans share his frustration and are not going to put up with Government pillage any longer. Michelle Malkin http://michellemalkin.com/2009/02/27/fiscal-responsibility-is-the-new-counterculture/ has been blogging and reporting on various actions around the country and posting photos from, among others, San Diego, North Carolina, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Nashville, Portland, Shelby, AL, Lansing, MI, Cleveland, OH, Houston and Austin, TX, Denver, Orlando and Hartford, CT.
One thing certain is that there are definitely many more to come, and the movement is growing quickly, with a large Fourth of July Party planned along with myriad others.

Rick Santelli initiated the call to a new American Tea Party last week. CNBC's Rick Santelli issuing the "tea party" call at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange As WND reported, CNBC analyst Rick Santelli became a YouTube sensation after he spoke out against President Obama's proposed $275 billion deficit-financed homeowner bailout plan and other massive spending measures with a call for a new "tea party" from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. In a nearly three-minute rant that drew approving hoots and comments from nearby traders, Santelli said the Obama administration's promotion of bad behavior must be causing the Founding Fathers to roll over in their graves. "We're thinking of having a Chicago Tea Party in July," Santelli told CNBC "Squawk Box" co-anchor Joe Kernan.
